The Guild of Players Board has taken the decision that live performances which were scheduled to take place at the Theatre Royal Dumfries from 1st September 2020 to 31st December 2020 will not be possible this year.
Staff will be contacting all ticket holders over the coming weeks regarding the rescheduling or refunding of performances and thank you for your patience at this time.
Meantime, the Board is taking advice about how best to make Theatre Royal Dumfries a safe and healthy environment for live shows in the future; this involves not only access and routes for audiences, but safe practice for rehearsal, backstage tasks, and for the additional cleaning which will be necessary.
As you will imagine, the months from March this year have been full of changes – from the guidance to close all live performances, to the response to the progress of Coronavirus over the past months, and the need for PPE in the future.
The Guild of Players Board furloughed staff in April, and has since then been following Government and Health guidance to keep staff safe and to look after Theatre Royal Dumfries so that audiences can be welcomed back when it is safe and sensible to do so. To date, there has been no Government guidance on when live performances may resume.
Thank you for your continued interest and support, and for your loyalty to Theatre Royal Dumfries. It is much appreciated and valued.
We face the changes and challenges with a shared determination to continue to provide Doonhamers and visitors from further afield with a good night out at a live show for many more years ahead.
Guild of Players, Board.
