Help Wanted

The Guild of Players is a volunteer run organisation that is always looking for new people to join our community.

Currently we are looking for volunteers to help us staff our Box Office during the day, allowing us to open the theatre up to visitors for more than just performances.  The role will primarily involve engaging with the public and acting as the friendly, welcoming face of the theatre.  The primary duties will involve the following:

Retail & Customer Service - Retail transactions are a core part of this opportunity and we pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service. We strive to provide a friendly and welcoming environment for all of our customers, which is reflected in the attitudes and performance of our volunteers.

Heritage & Tourism - As an historic venue, the Theatre Royal Dumfries is dedicated to celebrating its heritage and exhibiting it for all to see. Box Office volunteers will be required to conduct occasional tours of the building and to answer questions about the exhibit. They will also be required to maintain the exhibition area, keeping it tidy and presentable.

Digital & Social Media - The Theatre Royal is planning on expanding its online presence, providing more ways for the public to engage with the theatre. When not dealing with customers, Box Office staff will be asked to help with the maintenance of our website and social media platforms, keeping them up to date by scheduling posts and curating the content.

Whether you're looking for work experience, looking to learn new skills or simply want something to do in your spare time, we would be delighted to have you join our team.  We are happy to accept volunteers of all skill levels as full training in our systems will be provided.  If you are interested in learning more and arranging an interview, please contact Peter Bain by emailing, or calling 01387254209 and selecting option 5.
